I'M Jim Palmer

I’m a Veteran, an entrepreneur, a certified Mindset and Life Coach.  Growing up in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, I dreamed of traveling the world and decided to join the United States Navy.  I served aboard several different ships including a carrier and destoryers.  Then,  after starting a family, I realized my priorities changed.  Resigning my commission, I then started my civillian career. Using the leadership skills I learned in the Navy, I have spent more than 25 years leading organizations and running companies.  I am living the life of my dreams!!  Let me share my experience, insight and methods to help you build the life of your dreams.

ARE YOU COMING?

“The mind adapts and converts to its own purposes the obstacle to our acting. The impediment to action advances action. What stands in the way becomes the way.”

Marcus Aurelius

As a Naval Officer, I was living my life's dream.

My entire life I wanted to be a Naval officer and I was exceptional at it – I was on track to achieve command at sea but…

My military success had come at a great sacrifice to my family and I began to question my purpose. Much to the shock of my Family, my Commanding Officer, and the crew, I decided to leave the Navy.

Like you, I wanted a different life with more time with my growing family, but I didn’t know what was next and I certainly didn’t know how.

I know how it feels to want a better life but not know how or where to begin.

Leaving the Navy, I was filled with uncertainty, doubt, and fear.

For the first time in my life, I didn’t know what I was going to do. I was like a rudderless ship.

My mind was filled with thoughts like – what can I do, what would a different career look like, where would I live, how do you move up the ladder, who would want me… Sound familiar?

In my experience, very few corporate people understand transitioning to a civilian role.  Transitioning between jobs or companies or industries can create self doubt and leave you wondering where you fit.

I experienced failure.

Not knowing what to do but knowing I needed to do something, I signed up for a meeting with a military recruiter – like everyone else as expected.

I fell flat on my face thinking all I needed was a resume and my fitness reports – I thought they would just set me up with a job. I was wrong.

They were looking for candidates that would represent them – because after all their business model is set up for repeat business for them. It had nothing to do with me

I figured it out and changed my mindset

I committed to myself to work on my mindset and along the way, I developed a process and method for success.

Everything changed for me the day I changed my perspective  and realized that interviews are like auditions and are a chance to solve an organization’s  problem, not mine.

I realized that I needed to communicate a confidence and belief in myself for what I hadn’t done to that same level of confidence in what I had done.

My belief system

From my new perspective, I became the solution. I wasn’t going to be someone desperate and hoping for a shot with an organization. I was someone with skills, experience and leadership to offer.  I would be the answer to the question and the solution to the problem and the hurdle to the obstacle.

Over time, I reordered my thinking and developed a personal belief system which guide’s me.

So, I’m now on a mission to spread the word to help and teach every veteran or non-veteran willing to put in the work.  You have the power within yourself to write your own part in life
